Decorative glass door
headlines HGTV’s
‘Battle on the Block’
The basics: In January 2010, Home and Garden
Television Producer Jessica Cozzetta called Sans
Soucie Art Glass Studios, Palm Desert, Calif.,
looking for a glass door for a wine room. The wine
room would be featured as part of a kitchen remodel on the network’s “Battle on the Block” show. The
show pits neighboring families against one another
as they redesign one room in their house within a
designated budget. The family who comes up with
the winning design receives a cash prize. As part
of their kitchen remodel, homeowner contestants
Kevin and Tracee Holzendorf of Jacksonville, Fla.,
wanted to turn an old pantry into a wine room, and
selected Sans Soucie Art Glass’ Vineyard Grapes
Cascade, 3D Carved Wine Door for the entrance.
“We both love wine, but never had a place
to display some of the great bottles that we
collected,” Tracee says. “My vision was a
wrought-iron gate with vines and grapes. I wanted
to give the impression of walking through a gate
into a vineyard.” The end result is a door that
has become a conversation piece for family and
friends. “The uniqueness of the etching adds an
elegant look to our kitchen,” Tracee says. “The
wine room door is one of the crown jewels.”
